Reliable sources from the City of Anaheim Department of Community Development, are reporting that the Section 8 waiting list at the Anaheim Housing Authority will open for a brief period later this summer. No date has been specified at this time.
The city has recently completed a process of purging thousands of applications from the former waiting list and trimming the list down to about 6,000 current and updated applications. Notices were sent to thousands of applicants that have been on that waiting list for as many as ten years. Those applicants that did not respond to attempts to contact them are now taken off of that waiting list.
It is expected that the list will only open for about two weeks. During that time, it is estimated that as many as 30,000 households will apply. Applications will only be available online only. A lottery will determine a total of between 8,000 and 10,000 new applicants that will be added to the waiting list with priorities for housing based on whether applicants live and/or work in Anaheim.
